The democratic party is over. Let's face it!
The party has been infested, hijacked and become a Black Panther Party.

2008 is a year of change - change of party politics. I believe neither the
Democratic party, nor the Republican party can represent the majority of
Americans. They have become the incubator of left and right wing extremists.
Two extremes connect. While the left wing liberal nuts and the right wing
lunatic warmongers doing their dogfight in the hollow shell of Democratic
and Republican parties, I have decided to stand out to represent the middle
class, hard-working, progressive Americans, as an independent.

I will not attend the DNC in August. Let Obama and his nostalgic friends
returned from the 60's enjoy the la-la land in a half-empty hall and declare
their victory of mutiny ... while American politics will be turning to a
new page and a new era.

Milwaukee

Milwaukee's American Tudor Revival Community (Rockway Pl. and Glenview Ave.)

I passed by this community when I leave Medical College of Wisconsin for the airport. This is a small cul-de-sac street near Glenview Ave. Most of the houses on the street are American tudor revival type.
(the last two pictures were taken on 2/7/2008 morning, after a 20" snow storm that stuck me in the hotel for two days...)



The Gravity Well at Milwaukee Airport.
It is enchanting to watch those coins revolving around the well and eventually drop into the hole....





In physics, a gravity well is the gravitational potential field around a massive body (a particular kind of potential well). Physical models of gravity wells are sometimes used to illustrate orbital mechanics. Gravity wells are frequently confused with general relativistic embedding diagrams (distorted space and time...etc.), but the two concepts are unrelated.

After you drop a coin into the gravity well, friction removes some of the energy of the rolling coin causing it to drop down into the well. When the coin drops down into the well some of its gravitational potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. The potential energy of the coin is converted to kinetic energy so as the coin drops down it has a higher velocity. So you see friction actually speeds up the coin. Not only does the coin go around in a smaller circle as it drops down into the gravity well, it travels around at a higher velocity. The result is that the coin completes orbits much more rapidly near the center of the well.

Eventually the coin drops into the well and becomes a donation to the Galley of Flight in the airport...

Is Obama Black Enough?

Probably not. What is "Black" by the Black?
Look at South Carolina's democratic caucus result, apparently the black believes that being "Black" means born with black skin. But this sounds a bit of racism.
Did not Mr. King say, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Does Obama have to act like most Blacks, swing on the street, avoid working, addicted to drugs, to be qualified as "black" enough? The Blacks are rudimentarily insecure about their status in the American society. This sense of insecure was not from the history, as most of them think, but from their current economical and cultural positions in the social structure.

(GolfWeek's editor had to resign for the issue with the cover that has a noose on it... lots of people were offended for some reasons beyond me.)

Down the road, I think the American Blacks are still going to hug and vote for Obama, just like they did for O. J. Simpson. Ironically, the only things Obama shares with American Blacks are their wives' skin color... oh, and his own skin color... at 50% discount.

A side note: I have always have this keen sense on the difference between the Eastern and Western Africans: the western Africans generally have low and big noses, thick lips and a chubbier torso, just the most of the American blacks, who were mostly western African descendants; while the eastern Africans are generally slimmer, taller, and with thinner lips, like Obama (despite his half white blood). So obviously, when you talk about race, skin color is not the only thing you can associate your brotherhood with....

Confusion about "Rod of Asclepius" and "Caduceus"

I came across the following article on Wiki and finally learned the difference between the one-snake-rod-of-Asclepius and two-snake-caduceus, a common mistake.

The caduceus is the staff that Mercury holds, with two snakes and a pair of wings, while the rod of Asclepius symbolizes medicine, which derived from the legend that Asclepius learned medicine art from Chiron.

(btw, talking about Chiron, it is the superlative form of centaurs. It is nice and civilized, not like centaurs with all the drinking problems. The large vaccine and Diagnostic company Chiron, now part of Novartis, derived its name from the legend, too)

Lost of people misused the caduceus as the symbol of medicine, including quite some insurance companies, and Medical Department of US Army probably because the caduceus represented alchemy and Hermes in the Greek mythology...
